Diana here! I wanted to do a quick check-in. After the last episodes I had to take a break. Talking about the hardships of asylum seeking families and then about how women’s reproductive rights are being attacked every single day was a bit too much for me.

So, I wanted to talk about activist fatigue and I recorded a great conversation with my friend immigration activist and artist Carolina Rubio MacWright. (You can listen to that episode here). I recorded that conversation on Friday August 2nd. As you know, on August 3rd a domestic terrorist went in to a Walmart in El Paso with the goal of killing Mexicans.

Particularly hard week processing it all (you can read more about my feelings here). The domestic terrorism at the hands of white supremacists with access to ARs is alarming, and the hateful rhetoric that has allowed this to happen is intensifying by the day.

To make matters worse, we went to sleep on Saturday night and woke up to find out that another mass shooting had occurred, this time in Dayton, Ohio.

There have been more mass shootings than days in 2019.

As parents we must speak out against gun violence and about anti-immigrant rhetoric that is literally destroying communities all over the United States.

I urge you to call your elected officials! You can reach the Capitol Switchboard and call your Senators here. , or call (202) 224-3121.
